DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition—Journey from Sketch to Screen

From the makers of Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Trolls, comes an extraordinary exhibition celebrating over 25 years of DreamWorks Animation.
Appearing for the first time in the U.S., DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition - Journey from Sketch to Screen features over 350 items including rare and never-seen-before concept drawings, original artifacts, interactives, film clips, and more!
The exhibition is divided into four key areas: Character, Story, World and the Drawing Room.

Character
The first section, Character, reveals the evolution of DreamWorks most beloved characters, such as Shrek, Wallace and Gromit, Po from Kung Fu Panda and the gang fromMadagascar. Offering visitors unprecedented access to the DreamWorks archive, this section features over 80 exquisitely carved maquettes, original concept art and sketches, plus video interviews with illustrators, animators and production designers.

Story
Story unpacks the story-making process at DreamWorks Animation, exploring how original inspiration transforms into a feature-length narrative. The central focus of this section is a huge digital storyboard where filmmaker Conrad Vernon performs, step-by-step, his pitch for the infamous ‘Interrogating Gingy’ scene in Shrek.

World
World, the largest exhibition section, highlights the distinct, believable and unique worlds created within each DreamWorks Animation film. World explores the collaborative work of directors, production designers and concept artists in creating fantastical, authentic and believable environments.

Drawing Room
The final section, the Drawing Room, houses the immensely popular Animation Desk digital kiosks, allowing visitors to make their own hand drawn,animated movie sequence on software developed by DreamWorks for its own animators.
Take a fascinating and exciting journey from original sketches of beloved grumpy ogres and friendly dragons, to the extraordinary stories and lush worlds brought to the screen by DreamWorks' award-winning artists.
